Myths in which the egg is the origin of the world are widespread, being found in such diverse cultures as ancient Egypt, Phoenicia, Greece, India, China, Japan, Central Americ, Fiji and Finland.  The Cosmic Egg is the germ of all creation, the potential, the womb, the origin of all being.  In Egytian, Greek, Hindu and Chinese myth the Cosmic Egg burst asunder.  In some legends the two halves formed the sky and earth, but in Hinduism the Egg of Brahma divided into three regions - the senses, the heavens and the world.  Sometimes the egg contains the Four Element.
